3 Great Places to Find Career Inspiration - Walrath Recruiting, Inc.

3 Great Places to Find Career Inspiration - Walrath Recruiting, Inc. Having a career can mean doing the same thing for quite  a long time. Unsurprisingly, at one point or another, almost everyone can lose that sense of excitement in their career. For some, that means changing careers, and for others that simply means finding inspiration. Whether youre starting your job search, or at a midpoint in your career, were here to help you find that spark. Below well explain three great sources of inspiration. 1. Movies A great movie allows us to be whisked away to an entirely different world for the duration of its runtime. If its well acted and well written, its easy to become attached to the characters portrayed, and empathize  with their struggles. Whats also great is that movies exist across all genres and topics. So of course, there are quite a few movies out there about career struggles. If youre looking for a less intensive way to get inspired, this is a great option. A few of our favorites were outlined in a previous post we wrote, but there are many out there that may inspire you! Offhand, wed recommend The Pursuit of Happyness, The Intern, and Chef. These are all great movies that center around a protagonist struggling in their career or looking for a change. Additionally, biopics usually chronicle the career of a figure, so those can make great viewing material as well. If there is a movie out there that inspired you that we missed, let us know in the comments! 2. Books If you want a more specific and intensive form of inspiration, you may want to look to books. Whats great about this move is that there are plenty of books out there that are designed to inspire, even specific to a profession. For instance, if youre a marketer looking for motivation in your career, you could read Seth Godins  All Marketers Are Liars. There are a wide variety of authors across many industries that have become specialists in providing advice. All you have to do is find the right one! If you dont want to be too specific, there are also many more general options that arent industry specific. Richard Nelson Bolles  What Color is Your Parachute has been updated and re-released constantly since it has been so successful in helping job seekers find their way. The best part is that it can apply to anyone, no matter the field you work in. So if you want to read about something inspiring you cant go wrong with a good book. 3. People If youd prefer a more interactive option, you may want to opt for a conversation. Although you may not realize it, talking to someone you know can help you out greatly. Consider discussing your career with someone else working in the same field as you. Just make sure its someone you trust! If youre looking for guidance, you may want to reach out to someone who is a few years ahead of you in your profession. Given those years of experience, they may be able to impart some wisdom on your situation. Whether you reach out to a co-worker or someone in your network, it should help you find inspiration. Oddly enough, just talking to someone about your career may help you figure out what to do. Just make sure you pay it forward if someone else is looking to have a conversation with you in the future about their career! Working in the same field for a while can certainly make anyone feel stagnate. However, there are definitely ways to keep it fresh, new and exciting, you just have to find them! We hope the sources of inspiration recommended above help you reinvigorate your career, and find a new passion for what you do. Best of luck finding inspiration out there!
